The Love Song of R. Buckminster Fuller is a “live documentary” by Academy Award nominated director Sam Green featuring a live score by the legendary indie rock band Yo La Tengo. The film narrated by Green, traces the career of 20th Century futurist, architect, engineer, inventor and author R. Buckminster Fuller (1895-1983). An early proponent of environmental stewardship, Fuller spoke persuasively about contemporary design and architecture’s ability to tackle issues of sustainability and conservation, and to stimulate radical social change.

“Outside the Box” – A Child Development Center that specializes in multi-sensory learning
They work with special needs and typical children in the same classroom. They utilize four curriculums for younger babies (8 weeks-8 months), older babies (8-16 months), toddlers 16-36 months, and young children (3-6 years old). The curriculums are designed to foster attachment and bonding with the parents or caretakers by engaging in activities that introduce sensory stimulation through play. Brain development is their priority as well as setting a foundation for “potential future learning”. Family Art Night
Friday October 28th from 6:30-7:30pm at the Norton Simon Museum
Families will learn about “papel picado” (perforated paper). This style of Mexican folk art, which involves cutting paper into a variety of designs, is frequently used in decorations for the upcoming Día de los Muertos holiday. There will also be a chance to view Diego Rivera’s painting “The Flower Vendor (Girl with Lilies)” before having a chance to create some papel picado.

USC Reading Study looking for participants Ages 7-12
The purpose of this study is to gain insight in to how education and other behavioral interventions can alter the development of reading in children with dyslexia with the ultimate goal of promoting the development of fluent reading. The results of this project may lead to increased understanding of reading in children with dyslexia, which may be useful in improving diagnosis and treatment of dyslexia. Currently recruiting normal reading level participants. Financial compensation is available.
