Burbank Beer Festival Returns to Downtown Burbank
October 15th
The Burbank Beer Festival will take over the streets of Downtown Burbank for one day, featuring a street fair as well as tastings of 85+ craft beers on tap from scores of different breweries. As for the street fair – with 100+ restaurants in Downtown Burbank, there will be plenty of dining options to choose from. Also making a presence will be dozens of local merchants supplementing the many existing retailers on San Fernando Boulevard. Entry to the Fall Street Fair is free and open to the public. Tickets to the beer tasting areas (age 21+) can be purchased for $40 online or at the door while supplies last.

Fire Prevention Month is this October, and BIC and Fireproof Children are making it easier and more fun to teach children about the importance of fire safety. BIC has launched a new website that provides age appropriate resources for families to learn about fire safety. The site has an interactive game section called “Hero’s World,” named for the program’s beloved Dalmatian mascot, Hero. BIC’s website also has a section dedicated to teaching parents about the importance of fire education and provides resources for them to better educate their families.

Play and Grow Smart-er Tips
Since 2010 Nancy Pyne-Hapke, author of “Play and Grow Smart, A Guide Supporting Brain Development, Birth through Five,” has been giving weekly tips from scholarly sources to personal interviews, from the internet to periodicals to books to aid your child’s optimum skill development through proactive neuroscience-based activities.
SKILL DEVELOPMENT points and Learning Tools, 30- to 36-month-olds: 
*  Puppets! (role-playing; practice in socialization)
    –  express feelings.
    –  replay life’s scenarios.
    –  offer unlimited imaginative play!
    (tactile, visual, auditory, fine motor, social/emotional, 
     creativity, life skills, language/vocabulary, 
     thinking/learning)
*  Lacing and threading (eye-hand coordination 
    practice)
    –  use large and colorful beads.
