Aiding Hearts 1st Annual Poker Night
August 5th from 7:30-11:30pm at the Agoura Calabasas Community Center
Aiding Hearts raises funds for research, education, and prevention of sudden cardiac arrest. The primary focus is ARVD, a congenital heart disease that depletes heart function, causing upwards of 30% of sudden cardiac arrest in young adults. Founders Max and Alex Horland were diagnosed with ARVD when they were 16. Max was playing a game of tennis with a friend when he suddenly collapsed and had to be rushed to the hospital. He was diagnosed with ARVD, and the next day had to undergo heart surgery to implant an internal defibrillator. Because ARVD is genetic, Max’s family was tested, and his twin brother Alex was diagnosed with the disease.

Easy. Serves 6. Cook ww (or other) pasta; set aside. Mix soy, tomato paste, water and cornstarch in a glass. Sauté onion, peppers and garlic to tender, then add thinly sliced flank steak (http://www.thekitchn.com/this-is-the-easiest-way-to-slice), and cook about 5 min. Add soy mixture, and cook 2 min. Add cooked pasta and toss. Mix in Parmesan, and serve. Optional (and blasphemous) to add peas or chopped green. Parental supervision.
