June 20 2016

Thank you to everyone for all your support and love over the past week.
My dad was my rock and I am forever changed since his passing. I always knew no matter what, he would be proud of me. He was the most positive human being I’ve ever met. His children and grandchildren were his greatest pride and joy. He would do anything for any of us. He taught me what it means to forgive and I will always be grateful to have been his daughter. He made my heart shine and I will miss him every minute of every day of every week of every year.
Love,
Jen

Play and Grow Smart-er Tips
Since 2010 Nancy Pyne-Hapke, author of “Play and Grow Smart, A Guide Supporting Brain Development, Birth through Five,” has been giving weekly tips from scholarly sources to personal interviews, from the internet to periodicals to books to aid your child’s optimum skill development through proactive neuroscience-based activities.
SKILL DEVELOPMENT points, 24- to 30-month-olds:
*  THE 2s. Ah, the 2s.
    –  Toddler is more “assertive.” This is a good thing!
The brain is evolving to create the awareness of
independence, that she’s a separate person from
you, and she realizes she has a mind of her own.
    –  His “defiance” is the developmental tug-of-war
between “doing it myself” and still needing help to
          make life work.
*  AS LANGUAGE skills are expanding with Toddler
    –  speaking in short sentences,
    –  telling you what she needs and wants,
    –  encourage auditory A-B-Cs and 1-2-3s with musical
          instruments:
          .. singing,
          .. listening to,
.. making sounds with musical instruments,
              real or DIY.
*  PLAY IS your child’s brain development work.
Q: What do we mean by Developmental Skills?
A: (in no special order) tactile, visual, auditory, gross
and fine motor, social/emotional, creativity, life skills,
    language and vocabulary, math/logic
    (thinking/learning) and music.
BUILD your “Learning Library” by choosing developmental learning tools (toys and other objects), designed to “grow” as children grow, with features and developmental skill elements appealing to different ages simultaneously all in 1 toy, so Baby learns developmentally at 3 months with an item and at 2 years Toddler is ready for different features of the same toy.
