Is it time for iced coffee by the lounge chair?
For rich, non-acidic iced coffee, make cold brew. It’s as simple as steeping a pound of medium-grind coffee in 10-11 C cold water overnight (or up to 24 hrs) on the counter then straining, and now it’s a concentrate. Make either hot or iced coffee by adding ice + water or milk (or hot water) to concentrate; start with a 1:1 ratio, and adjust to taste. Cold brew should keep over a week in the fridge if it doesn’t disappear first. Notes on straining: use cheesecloth in a mesh strainer then thru coffee filter into a glass jar or a Nut Bag (for DIY nut milk) or Toddy equipment. Hmm, wouldn’t coffee ice cream or gelato using this concentrate be delicious?
