I am once again a chair for the 5th annual “The Event”, an evening of food and wine tastings, a live concert performance and an incredible silent and live auction at the Calabasas Civic Center on Saturday, May 21st. Over 1,000 community & business leaders and residents from Bell Canyon, parts of West Hills, Calabasas, Hidden Hills, Agoura & Westlake Village come together with the common goal of providing consistent and sustainable funding to the LVUSD through their education foundation, The Foundation for Las Virgenes Schools. Last year, guests spent over $200,000 at the auction. In addition to being tax-deductible, donations provide an opportunity to gain exposure to potential customers and re-engage with existing customers. Survival, Hope and Renewal. Slavery to Freedom – Lithuanian-Israeli artist, David Labkovksi (1906-1991), survived the Holocaust drawing tattoos and sketches in Siberian prison camps. Following the war, Labkovksi transformed his memories of darkness, despair and loneliness into beautiful expressions of life and gratitude. Leora Raikin, artist and speaker, will give a lecture on the personal life of David Labkovksi and why his art serves as a witness to Life in Siberia and a document of history.
