Could knitting be the “new yoga”?
Research shows that knitting, sewing, weaving and crocheting are reported to achieve a meditative state which contributes to brain health, well-being and quality of life, and people who knitted with a group were even happier than people who knitted solo, so start a knitting group today! (Your local independent yarn store will teach knitting and crocheting when you buy yarn from their store.) Also, neuroscientists say cooking, drawing, photography, art, music, cake decorating, reading, and doing crossword puzzles are good for the health of the brain as these kinds of activities release dopamine, a natural antidepressant that supports de-stressing, relaxation, reducing anxiety and improving coping skills.
