Wow! 1-pan pasta meal in 9 minutes
12 oz linguini, spices, veges, oil and water all cook together at the same time in a wide, flat-bottomed skillet. So many flavor variations can be created! From comments: use recommended skillet; reduce or eliminate red pepper flakes; GF pasta may not work here (gluey); if the pasta isn’t tossed/turned over consistently, it may stick; add fresh herbs and/or pre-cooked protein at the end of cooking; stir 1-2 T cream in at the end; add 1-2 min cooking time for ww pasta; 1 lb pasta (packaged, dry) needs 6 C water; add 1 anchovy (brings umami; won’t be fishy).
7 new visions for 1-pan pasta.

Play and Grow Smart-er Tips
Nancy Pyne-Hapke, author of “Play and Grow Smart, A Guide Supporting Brain Development, Birth through Five,” has been giving tips to aid your child’s optimum skill development through proactive neuroscience-based activities weekly since 2010. These ideas come from scholarly sources to personal interviews, from the internet to periodicals to books.
THE CRITICAL WINDOWS during which the circuits of the brain are being most heavily wired for MUSIC development is 3 – 10 years. The more opportunity children have to experience healthy, positive and nurturing MUSIC experiences during this critical period, the more efficiently their brains will work over the long run.
A FEW DEVELOPMENTAL LEARNING TOOLS (toys and other objects) for MUSICAL development: rattles and other toys for making rhythmic sounds, any objects that create gentle/rhythmic/musical sounds, toys that jingle/squeak/chirp/click/snap/ring, singing toys, play phones, musical instruments, any technology that plays music.
Some “MUSIC” tidbits for the 4th year:
*  EXPERIMENT with rhythms several times a week
    ..  with musical “accompaniment”
            (provides a consistent beat)
    ..  without musical “accompaniment”
            (allows for free creativity)
..  using body parts (i.e. hands, feet, voices)
    ..  using “instruments”
            (i.e. rhythm sticks, wooden spoons).
*  PACE rhythms differently
    .. fast
    .. slow
    .. like an animal’s movement
      (i.e. a horse galloping, a snail crawling,
a butterfly flitting, a bunny hopping).
*  PLAY a listening game to discover the rhythms in
nature and the world around (i.e. notice sounds of
mockingbirds singing, cats purring, dogs barking, sheep
baaing, peacocks screaming, cars beeping open/closed,
      vacuum cleaners humming, water gurgling).
