These ideas come from scholarly sources to personal interviews, from the internet to periodicals to books. “FINE MOTOR” developmental skill definition: controlling and coordinating small muscle movements (dexterity in grasping, pincer movements, lateral movements, squeezing, threading, building, shaking, turning, spinning, pasting, lacing, cutting, drawing, writing, etc.), eye-hand coordination. THE CRITICAL WINDOWS during which the circuits of the brain are being most heavily wired for Fine Motor development is 3 – 10 years. The more opportunity children have to experience healthy, positive and nurturing Fine Motor experiences during this critical period, the more efficiently their brains will work over the long run.
