Whale-themed activities both days from 12:30-5pm at 1600 Ocean Front Walk, beach level at the Pier. The Pacific gray whale completes one of the longest migrations of any species – a journey that takes whales past the Santa Monica Pier, sometimes within viewing distance! At the Aquarium, lift a whale rib, feel bristly baleen and try on (simulated) whale blubber for warmth. Enjoy a fact-filled talk, “Whale You Be My Valentine?” at 1:30pm both days. A wildlife observation station staffed by the American Cetacean Society at the west end of the Pier includes binoculars and field guides.
