DEVELOPMENTAL Skill Definition, SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL: bonding, building relationships, appreciating differences, self-esteem, self-expression, responsibility, self-reliance, resourcefulness, curiosity, motivation, persistence, self-control. THE CRITICAL WINDOW during which the circuits of the brain are being most heavily wired for “SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL: EMPATHY, ENVY” development is about 2 years – 9 years. The more opportunity children have for positive social-emotional experiences during this critical period, the more efficiently their brains will work over the long run.
