SKILL DEVELOPMENT tidbits, 5-year-olds: *Now is when play becomes discovery, and Kindergartener learns rapidly through play. *Vocabulary expands by learning about color and size through play activities. *Learning the differences in how things feel, look and sound helps her develop cognitive skills. SOME DEVELOPMENTAL LEARNING TOOLS (toys and other objects) for 5-year-olds playing Lotto, a traditional matching game including classifying/categorizing and similarities/differences, and the developmental skills utilized: *Choose a lotto activity that stresses color/pattern/texture/shape recognition to help develop language, reading and writing skills.
