Tri Club Challenges Local Athletes to Swim The Distance from LA to NYC Sunday, May 20th from 5am-Midnight In One Day, In One Pool; Each Lap Raises Funds for Free Swim Lessons for Under-served Kids. Presented by Toyota, this epic swim event unites SoCal athletes to collectively swim 2,462 miles. The Coast 2 Coast Swim Challenge aims to reverse local child drowning statistics: drowning surpasses all other causes of death among children age 14 & under in CA, while LA County has by far the highest rate of near-drowning of any county in the state. Swimmers participating will sign up for one or more 30-minute stages and will receive lane assignments with swimmers of similar speed. Swimmers are encouraged to register in advance and may request specific swim times.
