AFFORDABLE MIND BODY GROUP for INFERTILITY

Mondays 6:30pm-8:30pm beginning January 31st for 8 weeks

Don’t let another cycle pass by without having these skills. The Fertility Counseling Center of Los Angeles in West LA offers The Harvard Medical School Mind-Body Infertility Program. Participants will learn techniques to elicit the relaxation response, skills to help reduce stress and reverse negative thinking, how to feel calmer, more in control, and better able to cope with the rigors of fertility treatment. Studies have shown that women who participate in this program have higher pregnancy rates.

Play and Grow Smart-er Tips
Nancy Pyne-Hapke, author of “Play and Grow Smart, A Guide Supporting Brain Development, Birth through Five,” has been giving tips to aid your child’s optimum skill development through proactive neuroscience-based activities every Monday.  These ideas come from scholarly sources to personal interviews, from the internet to periodicals to books.
“LANGUAGE/VOCABULARY” DEVELOPMENTAL SKILL DEFINITION: developing communications skills; articulating thoughts, feelings, needs; speaking, listening, reading, comprehending, writing, and spelling.
THE CRITICAL WINDOW during which the circuits of the brain are being most heavily wired for “LANGUAGE/VOCABULARY: NATIVE LANGUAGE, RECOGNITION OF SPEECH” development is birth to 5 years.  The more opportunity children have for positive language/vocabulary experiences during this critical period, the more efficiently their brains will work over the long run.
Some “NATIVE LANGUAGE, RECOGNITION OF SPEECH” Pt. 1 tidbits:
· TALK to Baby all the time because research shows that children whose parents spoke to them extensively when they were babies have significantly higher IQs and richer vocabularies than other children.  Resist the temptation to coo and babble.  Speak well and Baby will speak well.
· EVEN IF you don’t think you’ll be understood, talk to him.  Look at him when you talk to him; he wants to copy your mouth.  Good times are during diapering and feeding.  If you have the skill, speak to him in multiple languages to help foster the ability to hear sounds necessary to speak more than one language.
· INCREASING language skills might also encourage cooperation – make dressing time more interesting by pointing to and identifying the name of items of clothing or body parts.  For instance, “See this warm, red coat?  Your arms go into the long sleeves.  See this soft, blue cap?  It goes on your  head!”
