Chaparral Elementary Fall Festival

Zimmer Children’s Museum – Marble Painting

Sometimes it’s fun to paint pictures ourselves, but sometimes it’s fun to let someone else do all the work. Today marbles will be making paintings for you – all you need to do is to give them a little encouragement. All Sunday drop-in programs run from 2:00-4:00pm and are free for members and $3.00 per child for non-members in addition to the entrance fee.  Entrance fee is $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 3 and over.  Children 2 and under and grandparents are free.  Zimmer Children’s Museum is located on the lobby level of the Goldsmith Jewish Federation Building, 6505 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 100, Los Angeles, CA 90048.  Sunday hours are 12:30pm-5:00pm. Kids in the Courtyard: Life Drawing Meets Dead Dancing: A Day of the Dead Celebration

Come for a Mexican-Korean fusion Day of the Dead inspired by artworks in Intersections: Worlds Arts, Local Lives and Korean Funerary Figures: Companions for the Journey to the Other World. At the Fowler’s annual family celebration of Dia de los Muertos, watch and be amazed as the Filipe Linares’ papier-mâché sculpture La Calavera Don Quijote comes to life as part of a series of live re-enactments of Jose Guadelupe Posada’s iconic skeletal caricatures. UCLA arts students will lead families in introductory life-drawing sessions of these living tableaus. Other activities include making paper doll calacas (Mexican skeletons) and kkkoktu (Korean funerary
figures) on a stick, face painting, and gallery tours, as well as a pan dulce and hangwa tasting.
