6- to 9-month-old SKILL DEVELOPMENT discussion:
*  Q: What do we mean by Developmental Skills?
    A: (in no special order) tactile, visual, auditory, gross
    and fine motor, social/emotional, creativity, life skills,
    language and vocabulary, math/logic
    (thinking/learning) and music.
*  BEGIN to build a “learning library” of “developmental
    learning tools” designed to grow as Baby grows:
    –  consider choosing toys (Learning Tools) with
          multiple features and developmental skill
          elements that stimulate Baby AND (your future)
          Toddler AND Preschooler;
    –  ex. Baby may stack 2 blocks at 6 months old, and
          structural creations with lots of blocks can be built
          later.
*  SOME Developmental Learning Tools:
    – “LOVEYS” – soft dolls or stuffed animals (tactile,
          fine motor, social/emotional, auditory,
          thinking/learning)
          .. Attachment to a “lovey” can ease future
          uncomfortable life transitions.
          .. Avoid dolls or stuffed animals with anything
          that can be pulled off (or be stuffed with) and
          put into Baby’s mouth.
          .. Some “loveys” have gentle rattles inside for
          auditory reassurance.
          .. Choose a doll not too big and not too small.
    –  HOUSEHOLD items from your kitchen (fine
          motor, gross motor, life skills, auditory,
          thinking/learning):
          .. plastic bowls, non-glass measuring cups,
          wooden spoons.
          .. While you’re doing food prep, open your
          lower kitchen cupboards for him to explore;
          keep “his” kitchen tools there for him to find.
