Top 2016 Flower Trends for Weddings
1. Combinations of metallic, sparkle & sheen are big right now. Think lustrous, luxe alloys like silvers, golds, platinum, copper, bronze and even rose gold. Mix and match with ivory and off-white to make the alloys pop.
2. Natural is in. Like natural as if you picked your bouquet out of the highway median on your way over to the wedding, kind of natural. Garden flowers and wild flowers paired with drapery foliage and rich textures in loose gatherings.
3. Rich blushes and various hues of pink, contrasted with crimson and plums are hot this season.
4. Sorbets are in. A color palette with coral, spring green, lemon-yellow, powdered blue and soft orange are popular.

February Annual Sales
Valentine candy marked down drastically after the 14th. Most dramatic sale on specially designed Valentine’s Day boxes and candies.
MAJOR SALES EVENT: Watch for various Presidents Day sales; electronics are often discounted along with other major purchases.
TYPICAL ANNUAL SALES: As well as store sales, look for close-outs from big catalogue companies such as L.L.Bean and Land’s End.
MAJOR PURCHASES TYPICALLY ON SALE: Air conditioners, audiovisual equipment, computers, exercise equipment, furniture, mattresses, used cars. Look for sales around President’s Day.
BEWARE: Jewelry stores often promote big sales around Valentine’s Day, but the savings are often not much more than the regular price. Don’t be fooled.
FRUITS AND VEGETABLES: avocados, broccoli, cabbage, celery, endive, grapefruit, oranges, rutabagas. NOTE: With some produce now available all during the year, many people have forgotten when fruits and vegetables are really fresh. Buying in season means that these items are often cheaper, fresher, taste better and that money may be going to local farmers.

* Q: What do we mean by Developmental Skills?
A: (in no special order) tactile, visual, auditory, gross
and fine motor, social/emotional, creativity, life skills,
language and vocabulary, math/logic
(thinking/learning) and music.
* BEGIN to build a “learning library” of “developmental
learning tools” designed to grow as Baby grows:
– consider choosing toys (Learning Tools) with
multiple features and developmental skill
elements that stimulate Baby AND (your future)
Toddler AND Preschooler;
– ex. Baby may stack 2 blocks at 6 months old, and
structural creations with lots of blocks can be built
later.
* SOME Developmental Learning Tools:
– Teethers. (visual, fine motor, tactile, auditory)
.. Choose features like
~ bright colors,
~ various textures,
~ objects that make sounds or noises,
~ temperature (room temp or straight from
the freezer).
.. Careful – NO phthalates, BPA, PVC.
.. Consider natural alternatives like
~ cold carrots
~ untreated wood
~ a cold, wet washcloth
~ a frozen waffle.
– Activity centers on a rack or board, before Baby
can push up on hands and knees (inclusive of
visual, tactile, auditory, gross motor, fine motor,
social/emotional, thinking/learning, music)
possibly including objects
.. that may dangle, spin or rattle,
.. to bat, pull, hit,
.. that squeak, ding, crinkle,
.. with various colors, lights.
