Your Jr. Chef can bake Apple Crisp In a 9×13″ pan sprinkle sliced apples with sugar/flour/cinnamon mixture. Crumble over apple slices a mixture of flour/brown sugar/baking powder (non-aluminum best)/baking soda/melted butter. Bake. Serve warm or cold, naked or with ice cream, topped with macerated sweetened strawberries or chocolate chips (stop me!). Okay alts: flours, sweeteners, double crumble topping. Comments say to reduce the water/sub water with cranberry or orange juice, give your nutmeg a couple of swipes on the microplane grater, granny smith apples (tart and crisp) are far superior to red delicious (bland and mushy), add cranberries, add a heaping tsp of gourmet caramel ice cream topping to the apple mixture, butter can be reduced, add 1 tsp lemon juice + 1 tsp vanilla to the apple slices, add ginger to both apples and topping, add chopped (toasted) nuts, don’t peel organic apples, use fresh peaches.
