Uppercase Living Vinyl Lettering – I LOVE these!!!!!

Looks like it’s hand painted, but you can put it up in minutes and it’s completely removable. There are literally thousands of designs to choose from, but you can create your own sayings as well. Think names, dates, verses, lyrics, teams, favorite quotes, and tons more. Their products are great for events (weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, etc.) as well as personalized gifts. Plus they have that awesome clock with the picture frames that has gone viral over and over again. My friend, Torreh, is available to help you with your own order, or to join you and a group of friends for a demonstration & free craft, and give you a lot of free products as the hostess.

Play and Grow Smart-er Tips

Nancy Pyne-Hapke, author of “Play and Grow Smart, A Guide Supporting Brain Development, Birth through Five,” has been giving tips to aid your child’s optimum skill development through proactive neuroscience-based activities weekly since 2010. These ideas come from scholarly sources to personal interviews, from the internet to periodicals to books.

“FINE MOTOR” developmental skill definition: controlling and coordinating small muscle movements (dexterity in grasping, pincer movements, lateral movements, squeezing, threading, building, shaking, turning, spinning, pasting, lacing, cutting, drawing, writing, etc.), eye-hand coordination.

THE CRITICAL WINDOWS during which the circuits of the brain are being most heavily wired for Fine Motor development is 3 – 10 years. The more opportunity children have to experience healthy, positive and nurturing Fine Motor experiences during this critical period, the more efficiently their brains will work over the long run.

A FEW DEVELOPMENTAL LEARNING TOOLS (toys and other objects) for FINE MOTOR development: push and pull toys, hand-held teethers, toys that squeak, rattles, puzzles, sorters and stackers, activity sets, hands-on products, play phones, craft projects, construction sets, cause-and-effect investigative toys.

Some “FINE MOTOR” tidbits:

**  AROUND 4 months, Baby rakes objects toward herself,

and they’ll likely end up in her mouth.

**  BY 6 months, he

.. moves toys from one hand to the other.

.. creates sounds with a rubber squeak toy.

**  AFTER 6 months, she holds her own bottle.

Upcoming – “Fine motor, pt. 3”

Strategies to Motivate Kids to Help More at Home

Written by Gregg Murset, founder of www.MyJobChart.com

Expecting kids to never complain about helping out around the house is probably unrealistic. But it does not have to be a battle every time. There are strategies parents can adopt to help children want to take responsibility and complete projects. Parents can connect helping around the house with a special day or additional activity time. Have a standing arrangement that every week or month, if assigned tasks are completed properly, mom and dad will grant children one wish to do something special. By making projects fun parents can also be more successful at making their kids want to do them. During summer break or on a long weekend give your kids a large project to complete and let them invite friends over to help. Finally, take advantage of sibling rivalries. If one of your kids is assigned a task and he/she doesn’t want to complete it, allow for trades.

JUNE Annual Sales

Change or clean all the filters on air conditioners.  These should be cleaned at least once a month in hot weather.  You should have your central AC cleaned and examined by service company.  NOTE: Find an established company with a good reputation. Avoid new companies that have no track record.

Raise the temperature of the AC; You will save about 5% for every degree you raise your thermostat over 70 degrees. Most people find they are quite comfortable at 75 degrees inside instead of 70. It is also less of a shock to your body to go outside into the hot air if the temperature in the house is not very cold.

Air out your basement – this is a good time to prevent mold and rot from taking over.

If your car has not been tuned in six months, get it tuned before summer travel.

TYPICAL ANNUAL SALES: Electronics, summer sporting goods also early summer clothes.

MAJOR PURCHASES TYPICALLY ON SALE: Furniture, mattresses.

FRUITS AND VEGETABLES: Apples, apricots, asparagus, bananas, bermuda onions, blackberries, blueberries, cabbage, cantaloupe, celery, cherries, corn, cucumbers, green or wax beans, green onions, lemons, limes, lettuce, nectarines, okra, peas, pineapples, plums, raspberries, radishes, rhubarb, strawberries, squash, tomatoes, watercress, watermelon.  NOTE: With some produce now available all during the year, many people have forgotten when fruits and vegetables are really fresh. Buying in season means that these items are often cheaper, fresher and that money may be going to local farmers.
