Play and Grow Smart-er Tips

Nancy Pyne-Hapke, author of “Play and Grow Smart, A Guide Supporting Brain Development, Birth through Five,” has been giving tips to aid your child’s optimum skill development through proactive neuroscience-based activities every Monday.  These ideas come from scholarly sources to personal interviews, from the internet to periodicals to books.

“LANGUAGE/VOCABULARY” DEVELOPMENTAL SKILL DEFINITION: developing communications skills; articulating thoughts, feelings, needs; speaking, listening, reading, comprehending, writing, and spelling.

THE CRITICAL WINDOW during which the circuits of the brain are being most heavily wired for LANGUAGE/VOCABULARY: “Vocabulary” development is 2 years through adult. The more opportunity children have for positive language/vocabulary experiences during this critical period, the more efficiently their brains will work over the long run.

SOME DEVELOPMENTAL Language/Vocabulary: “Vocabulary,” Pt. 12, tidbits for the reading/literacy experience with your Toddler/Preschooler focused on building a strong foundation for reading and literacy:

**DISCUSS SECTIONS of a story and encourage prediction skills like “What happens next?”

**REPEAT PHRASES to support pretending and imaginative thinking.

**PLAY OFF THE RHYTHMS and patterns in the text and build on the read-aloud experience (important for sooo many reasons) by humming, singing along, and reading with expression.

Next week – Language/Vocabulary: “Vocabulary,” Pt. 13

OTB is now hiring

They have grown consistently over the past 5 years, but have really exploded in the last 12 months! January and February of 2014 were the most successful months to date (since OTB’s inception!). To accommodate all this amazing growth, they really need to try and double the amount of teachers they have. They are holding an OTB Teacher Training April 25th, 27th and May 4th. The teachers are the highest paid teachers in their field, compared to “like” programs, and become part of a surrogate family. Teachers create their own schedules, and choose when and where they work. If you are interested in having the BEST job on the planet, contact Erica, erica@otbee.com.

Struggling to get pregnant? HypnoFertility is the natural method for increasing your fertility!

Group class and private instruction available

Did you know that stress can reduce your chances for conception?
When we experience stress, our bodies produce Cortisol, which inhibits fertilized egg implantation, delays ovulation and reduces the number and motility of sperm. Your daily stress levels may be hurting your ability to conceive.
Research shows that using HypnoFertilty alone or with IVF can double the success rate of conceiving!
HypnoFertility teaches you to release fears and stress and improves your chances of pregnancy.
