The Glass Menagerie” by Tennessee Williams
Directed by Gordon Edelstein. A fresh new interpretation of classic “The Glass Menagerie,” Tennessee Williams’ compelling saga of the Wingfield family in the 1940s and their struggle with illusion and reality. Tom, the son, is torn between his role as the family breadwinner and his desire to lead a life of his own; his mother, Amanda (played by Tony Award-winning Judith Ivey), is a former Southern belle trying to maintain her dignity and her control in the gloom of their St. Louis tenement; and Laura, his frail sister, has retreated to an imaginary world caring for her collection of glass animals. Into their lives comes Jim, the Gentleman Caller, who changes the family forever.

The Family Vacation Center
For 38 years The Santa Barbara Family Vacation Center is a residential resort with diverse recreational and social activities for the whole family. Unlike UCLA, you do not have to be an alumni. One price includes everything you and your family need for a full week’s vacation—all meals, lodging with daily housekeeping service, and most activities. There is an extra charge for some activities that are offered as additions to our basic program. These may include kayaking lessons, our wine tasting tour, and yoga. The additional charge for these activities averages $100 total per family. It offers nine one-week sessions (NEW! mini weeks) during the months of July and August. Families attend, kids are watched most of the day so adults are free to have fun. Children participate in activities with kids their own age, under supervision of enthusiastic UCSB student counselors. Vacationers are free to take part in as many or as few of the programs as they desire.

“I got Joel Benoit’s name from Jen’s List originally, and I am so happy that I did. Not only did he fix many small projects around the house, but he built a beautiful 200 foot long picket fence in my front yard complete with solar lights instead of caps. I have had many comments about how great it looks, and I couldn’t be happier with the work. Joel is dependable, extremely easy to work with and his prices are very reasonable.” He can be reached at 310.926.8550.
