Today in History
* Nathaniel Briggs patents the washing machine. (1797)
* The city of Madrid falls to the forces of Francisco Franco, ending the Spanish Civil War. (1939)
* Three Mile Island nuclear power plant accident occurs in Middletown, Pa.(1979)
* Palm Sunday A Christian Holy Day
Palm Sunday begins the Holy week leading to Easter. On Palm Sunday, palms are distributed in church and blessed during the mass. People take them home and place them around religious pictures, statues or other objects. They remain there for a year until the next Palm Sunday when they are replaced by newly blessed Palms. When discarding old palms, remember it is a blessed religious object and should be burned or buried. Some gardeners bury it in their home garden, believing it will bless the coming year’s crop.  The ashes received on Ash Wednesday are from the prior year’s palms.

POSTPARTUM SUPPORT GROUP
Fridays from 10am to 11:30am
The Postpartum Passage, a weekly support group, is for moms with babies of newborns through the first year plus. The group addresses the symptoms of postpartum issues, helps to decrease the anxiety of new motherhood, and demystifies the adjustment so many feel when entering the greatest transition of their lives.  Women are encouraged to talk or simply listen and feel supported by others who understand.  The Center for Postpartum Health is lead by Dr. Diana Lynn Barnes who specializes in the assessment and treatment of perinatal and postpartum illness.  A member of Postpartum Support International, The Center recognizes that one in eight women suffer from postpartum health issues each year but 80% of them go undiagnosed.  It is critical that they find support during this challenging time. All moms are welcome but should call to RSVP (818/887-1312 ext. 2).  Babies are welcome! Fee: $20 per session. Contact:  Cathy Doré, M.A., MFTI or Dr. Diana Lynn Barnes, Psy.D., MFT at (818) 887-1312 ext. 2  or cdore@postpartumhealth.com
