Role of ‘household manager’ evolves: Position addresses more than childcare needs
Tiffanie Kinder, founder and CEO of Nanny Connections, is a pioneer in the childcare agency business. Kinder has been influential in the industry, helping to change childcare terminology, job titles and descriptions. Kinder says she has a lot of dual career-orientated clients – working professionals that leave their house early and don’t return home until late. Those families often seek a household manager’s role, not only to nanny children before and after school, but to manage the household. “Who is going to pick up kids from school, take them to soccer or dance practice, help them with homework – all before parents get home from work? When does the laundry get done or the errands occur? Kinder asked. “The household manager role can fill in the gaps.”

Your Jr. Chef can make Cabbage and Sausage Casserole
A simple and quick peasant food version of stuffed cabbage. In a 9×13″ baking dish, layer shredded/wilted cabbage with sweet Italian sausage meat, sprinkle s&p, dot with butter (or equiv olive oil), and cover with layer of parchment before sealing with foil. Cook 2½ hrs; cabbage becomes soft and sweet (but not the prettiest – looks aren’t everything). Serve over coarse-Dijon-slathered whole wheat sour dough slices. Serves 6 – 8. Creative alts/additions: brats, kielbasa, veg sausage, Chinese sweet sausage (Weichuan brand, with soy, sesame oil + veg oil, splash black vinegar at end of cooking), red cabbage, favorite spices/pinch caraway seed, more vegetables, onion, 1 chopped green apple, serve over rice or noodles. Parental supervision.
Discussion about stuffed cabbage rolls and regional recipe ingredients.
Slow cooker Beef and Rice Stuffed Cabbage Rolls. Low fat. Comments suggest doubling/tripling tomato sauce. Serves 6.
